Charles University Medicine Entrance Exams 2027

There is no single Charles University entrance exam. Each of its five medical faculties (the First, Second and Third Faculties in Prague, and the Faculties of Medicine in Hradec Králové and Pilsen) sets its own test, and you apply to each one, and sit each one, separately. This page compares all five for 2027/28 and sends you on to each faculty's full guide.

Is there one Charles University entrance exam?

No, and it is the fact candidates most often miss. Charles University has five faculties of medicine, and each runs its own admission procedure for its English-taught programmes: its own written test, with its own subjects, question count and scoring, its own second round (or none), its own dates, fee and places. A result at one faculty counts for nothing at another.

So the first decision is which faculties to apply to. Everything below is from each faculty's own admission pages and from Charles University's 2027/28 admissions records, read on 15 October 2026.

Comparison

All five faculties compared: format, dates, fees and places

The table sets the five tests side by side for the 2027/28 intake (General Medicine; three faculties also teach Dentistry in English).

Two things in the table are less settled than they look. LF1 and Hradec Králové publish their 2027 exam only as a date range in the admissions records, so the faculty's own day is still to come. And tuition is set per academic year: LF2's own fee page still shows CZK 420,000 for 2026/27 entrants, while its 2027/28 record says CZK 440,000.

The five faculties

Which Charles University faculty: the five tests in brief

First Faculty of Medicine (LF1, Prague): the oldest and largest, teaching General Medicine and Dentistry in English. Its written test of 75 single-best-answer questions is only a gate: candidates over the Dean's limit sit an online multiple mini-interview (MMI) of five stations, and the MMI score alone decides admission. Its third block, General Science, has no official syllabus.

Second Faculty of Medicine (LF2, Prague): 75 questions in 90 minutes, with a Logic section and Physics and Biophysics, and science items where any number of the four options can be right, all of which must be marked to score. The best written results go on to an interview, and the two are added together.

Third Faculty of Medicine (LF3, Prague): the shortest science menu, 60 questions in Biology and Chemistry only, sat on your own laptop, then a short interview scored 12 to 62. It also runs its own premedical course.

Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové: 60 answered questions, Biology and Chemistry plus your choice of Physics or Mathematics, five options each, then a two-part interview worth 40 points. Its own sitting is held online through the testing company Scio.

Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen: 60 questions in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, 20 each, with at least 9 needed in every subject, and no interview at all: the written test decides.

Syllabus

Charles University entrance exam syllabus and topics

What every faculty shares is Biology and Chemistry at the level of a strong school-leaving exam: LF1 names British A-levels as the closest curriculum, and LF3 the Czech grammar-school programme. What differs is the third part:

  • LF1: General Science, quantitative reasoning with graphs, units, statistics and physics-style problems; there is no separate Physics paper and no official General Science syllabus
  • LF2: Physics and Biophysics (20 questions) and Logic (15)
  • LF3: nothing beyond Biology and Chemistry
  • Hradec Králové: Physics or Mathematics, 10 questions, your choice
  • Pilsen: Physics, 20 questions

Each faculty publishes its own list: LF1 topic lists for Biology and Chemistry; LF2 one page of headings for Physics, Biology and Chemistry; LF3 a Chemistry and Biology syllabus; Hradec Králové a requirements and recommended literature list for every subject; Pilsen its requirements through its sample tests.

Past papers and sample tests

Charles University past papers and sample tests

None of the five publishes an archive of past papers. Each publishes official sample material instead, and none of it explains its answers:

  • LF1: one 75-question mock (Chemistry, Biology, General Science) with an answer key on the last page
  • LF2: 300 model questions, 100 each in Biophysics, Biology and Chemistry, with the correct answers in bold; nothing for Logic
  • LF3: the 2025 test, 30 Biology and 30 Chemistry questions, with its answer key
  • Hradec Králové: the 2024/25 sample test with the correct answers in bold
  • Pilsen: three 20-question sample tests, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, with solutions

IvyTest's free practice papers add what the official samples lack: a full paper in each faculty's 2027/28 format, with every answer explained, including LF2's Logic block, which its samples leave out, and Pilsen's new 60-question test.

Sittings abroad through each faculty's partner agencies have their own dates, mostly still to be announced, and an application for one of them may have to be in earlier than 30 April. Legalised school documents for the recognition of foreign education are due by 31 August 2027.

Applying to more than one

Can you apply to several Charles University faculties?

Yes, but each application is separate. LF1's admissions page puts it plainly: "If you are also applying to other faculties of Charles University, those applications must be submitted separately as well." Each one is a separate application in Charles University's online system, with its own fee, its own test and its own result.

The faculties' own Prague sittings fall on different days in 2027 (26 May Pilsen, 28 May LF3, 3 June LF2, with LF1's in the 24–28 May window and Hradec's in May), so most combinations can be sat; check each invitation before you book travel. LF1 and Hradec Králové allow one sitting per applicant in an academic year, and Pilsen one application.

Rankings

Charles University in the rankings

Times Higher Education ranks Charles University as a whole, not its faculties: 451–500 in its World University Rankings 2027, and 301–400 in its Medical and Health table (the 2026 edition, the latest). The same diploma title, MUDr., is awarded by all five faculties.

FAQ

Charles University entrance exam: questions

No. Each of Charles University's five medical faculties (LF1, LF2 and LF3 in Prague, Hradec Králové and Pilsen) sets its own entrance exam for its English programmes, with its own subjects, scoring, dates and fee. You apply to each faculty separately and sit each test separately.

None publishes an acceptance rate. Charles University's 2027/28 admissions records print each faculty's admitted and total applicants for 'the past academic year' (LF1 119 of 614, LF2 305 of 699, LF3 92 of 548, Hradec Králové 208 of 377, Pilsen 99 of 298), but they do not say which year that is, and an admitted applicant is not always a student who enrols. Since the tests differ so much, the better question is which test suits you: an MMI that alone decides at LF1, Logic and multiple-response science at LF2, two subjects at LF3, a choice of Physics or Mathematics at Hradec Králové, no interview at Pilsen.

Yes. All five medical faculties teach the six-year General Medicine programme (MUDr.) in English for a tuition fee, from CZK 390,000 a year at Pilsen to €24,250 at LF1 for 2027/28 entrants. LF1, Hradec Králové and Pilsen also teach Dentistry in English. Medicine taught in Czech is free of charge, with its own admission procedure, as Hradec Králové's programme page says of its own.

Yes, one per faculty, run by the IvyTest team: r/charlesfirstfaculty, r/CharlesSecondFaculty, r/CharlesThirdFaculty, r/CharlesHradec and r/CharlesPilsen. Applicants compare notes there; dates, rules and results come only from the faculties' own pages.

Not as a requirement: no faculty asks for one. LF3 runs its own Premedical Course, 11 January to 27 May 2027, for CZK 125,000, with application, payment and documents due by 31 October 2026. Charles University's Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies (UJOP) runs foundation programmes for medicine in English: COMPLEX in Poděbrady from September 2027 (CZK 186,160, about €7,990) and FAST in Prague from November 2026 or November 2027 (from CZK 115,000, about €4,936).

30 April 2027 at all five faculties for the 2027/28 intake. LF2, LF3 and Pilsen open applications on 1 November 2026; LF1 opened its last cycle on 1 December and has not yet announced this one, and Hradec Králové gives no opening date.
