Charles Uni: Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové Admissions Guide

The Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové is part of Charles University, a public university; its programmes in English charge tuition, in Czech crowns.

Students who have completed secondary education are eligible if their school documents would admit them to the same programme in their home country. The entrance procedure, held in English, has two parts: a written test (Biology 25, Chemistry 25, and Physics or Mathematics 10 at your choice, five options, +1 for a correct answer and 0 otherwise, 60 points) and an interview of two parts, 20 points each: from 2027/28 an ethical dilemma you argue for and against, then your motivation and any experience caring for chronically ill patients. You may sit it once per academic year, and the admissions record asks for no separate English certificate.

The 105 General Medicine places go to the applicants ranked 1st to 105th on the combined score out of 100; anyone tied with the last admitted applicant is admitted too. Within 14 days of the results, admitted applicants confirm whether they take the place.

Apply online and pay the CZK 2,500 fee. The faculty names November 2026 to June 2027 as its standard entrance examination period, in three forms: the faculty's own exam, held online by the testing company Scio for applications submitted by 30 April (in May 2027, date to be announced), with the interview on MS Teams; sittings abroad through partner agencies, booked with the agency, with your application paid at least a week before; and the alternative date range the record gives, 4 June to 17 August 2027.

Years 1 and 2 cover the structure and function of the human body from the molecular level to the organ systems, with first-aid courses and training in the faculty's Simulation Centre. Years 3 and 4 bring the preclinical disciplines and an introduction to clinical work, mainly internal and surgical propaedeutics, much of it in the clinical departments of the University Hospital Hradec Králové; a four-week practice follows the fourth year. Year 5 is wholly clinical, and year 6 is bedside practice in internal medicine, surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics, paediatrics, and hygiene and preventive medicine, ending in the state exams.

The faculty points to an adaptation programme before studies start, clinical lessons in groups of 5 to 7 students, and simulators, high-tech microscopes and 3D printing. Graduates can go on to specialisation anywhere in Europe, or in the Czech Republic after an exam in Czech.

For 2026/27, compulsory lectures started on 1 October 2026 at 8 am and the official matriculation was on 19 October 2026. Schedules and study plans are published during the summer holidays on the For Admitted Students page and in the Student Information System.

Rankings measure Charles University as a whole, not one faculty: QS and Times Higher Education both rank the university, and every one of its five medical faculties awards the same MUDr. degree. In THE's World University Rankings 2027 Charles University is in the 451–500 band, and in THE's Medical and Health table (the 2026 edition, the latest) in the 301–400 band. QS's tables could not be read, so their figures are not given here.
