Entry requirements

Charles University Pilsen entry requirements

The conditions are the same whether you apply with an agency or without: an electronic application by the deadline, the entrance examination, proof of secondary education with a school-leaving examination, and tuition paid. The entrance examination is a written test only, with no interview: 60 questions, 20 each in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, one correct answer, no penalty, and from 2027/28 at least 9 points in each subject as well as the total the dean sets from the number of places. The record asks for no English certificate, and the faculty runs no preparatory course for English-programme applicants.

After passing, send a notarised hard copy of your school-leaving certificate, legalised with an apostille or superlegalisation in the country that issued it, with an official translation into Czech or English if needed, by post or in person, by 31 August 2027: copies, PDFs and email are not accepted. At enrolment you also hand in a certificate of medical fitness to study and proof of vaccination against hepatitis B and measles.

Curriculum

The General Medicine curriculum in Pilsen

The first two years are devoted to theoretical subjects such as Anatomy, Histology, Embryology, Biophysics, Biochemistry and Physiology. Years 3 and 4 bring the pre-clinical subjects, such as Pathological Anatomy, Pathological Physiology and Microbiology, and the clinical years follow, organised in blocks rather than semesters. Theoretical and pre-clinical subjects run in winter and summer semesters, each a teaching period followed by an examination period, and students are introduced to research and can spend time abroad, particularly in the summer holidays.

Clinical teaching is at the University Hospital Pilsen, on its Bory and Lochotín sites.
