Student life

Living in Rome as a medical student

LINK Campus's main Rome site is the Casale di San Pio V, a 16th-century manor set in parkland near the Vatican — though it isn't confirmed whether Medicine students study there day-to-day or primarily near the hospital partner. The programme is new, so there's no graduating class yet, and published data on student numbers and campus specifics for Medicine specifically is thin.

LINK Campus doesn't run its own dorms; it offers an accommodation-assistance service to help students find apartments, short lets or B&Bs near campus, on top of Rome's wider private rental market. Clinical training in Rome runs through Ospedale San Pietro–Fatebenefratelli; LINK's newer Fano campus (opened 2025) trains through the local AST di Fano health authority instead.

FAQ

LINK admissions FAQ

No. LINK Campus delivers Medicine in Italian and tests in Italian too. This guide and its simulator questions are written in Italian too, so you prepare in the language of the test; confirm the current language requirement directly with LINK before applying.

On paper and in person, and where depends on your campus and your call. LINK admits to Medicine at eight sites, each under its own call: in 2026/27 the first calls were for Rome, Novedrate (CO), Ascoli Piceno and Fano (Rome sat on 12 March 2026, the other three on 16 April), followed by further sittings on 14 May (Rome), 25 June, 22 July and 22 September 2026, when Frosinone, Matera, Pescara and Pietra Ligure (SV) joined; on 29 October 2026 every Italian site sits, and separate calls hold the test in Paris and Berlin on 27 October. Each sitting's venue is set by the number of applicants and may be off campus, so confirm yours with LINK before making travel plans.

60 five-option questions in 100 minutes: Reading and General Knowledge 4, Logical Reasoning and Problem Solving 5, Biology 23, Chemistry 15, and Physics and Mathematics combined 13. A correct answer scores +1.5, a wrong one −0.4 and a blank 0, out of 90, so a blind guess loses points on average.

It's built on LINK's second 2026/27 call for its Novedrate campus (Decreto Rettorale n. 3253); every later 2026/27 call, up to the October ones, sets the same format. The 2027/28 call hadn't been published as of this guide's last update, so check it for any changes once it's out.

Yes. LINK-format practice sessions are available inside the simulator.

Yes. Rome's course was accredited by Ministerial Decree n. 1511 of 17 November 2023, and the calls for the other sites cite DM 178 of 27 February 2026. It's a new programme with no graduates yet, so if you plan to practise outside Italy, confirm its listing with the World Directory of Medical Schools (search.wdoms.org) directly, since that listing is what opens the US ECFMG/USMLE pathway.

The first 2026/27 calls offered 640 places across four sites (400 in Rome and 80 each at Novedrate, Ascoli Piceno and Fano, including 10 and 5 respectively for non-EU applicants resident abroad), and the 29 October 2026 calls list 192 Medicine places in Rome, 98 at Novedrate, 50 at Pescara, 48 at Fano, 47 at Pietra Ligure, 46 at Frosinone, 44 at Ascoli Piceno and 43 at Matera. No applicant counts are published, but the ranking lists read ranked fewer candidates than places (208 for Rome's 390 on 12 March 2026).
