Admission requirements
Masaryk University medicine admission requirements
You need completed secondary education with a final certificate or diploma (the Faculty gives A-levels in three subjects and the IB diploma as examples), and your secondary education has to be recognised in the Czech Republic before you enrol. Then you pass the entrance examination, which you may sit only once per admission year: three separate written tests in Chemistry, Biology and Physics, each of 40 questions with five options and one correct answer, 50 minutes each, with a simple calculator. The pass mark for General Medicine is 60% (Dentistry 65%); the Dean sets the number of places, and higher scores are admitted first. The exam is in English, and in certain countries an oral interview in English can be added.
Some applicants can be admitted without the exam to General Medicine (not Dentistry): with MCAT results of at least 24 or 500 or a DAT of 20 (the USA and Canada; US applicants must submit the MCAT), PACES/MMOP results (France), A-levels of A in Chemistry, A in Biology and B in Physics, an IB diploma with 35 points and 19 from HL Biology, HL Chemistry and HL or SL Physics, an Abitur of 1.70 or better, or a Swiss average of 5.50 or better, the last four from recent school years only.
How to apply
Masaryk University application deadline and timeline for 2027/28
You apply through one of the Faculty's official representatives in your country and its e-application for exams abroad, open from 2 January to 31 July 2027, attaching your last school year's transcript or your final diploma. Each sitting closes about two weeks before it, so the date you pick sets your real deadline. The e-application then shows its acceptance, and later the decision on your admission.

Places
Masaryk University acceptance rate

Masaryk University's own admissions report for 2025 gives 467 applicants, 400 who sat the exam and 352 admitted, of whom 166 enrolled: about 75% of applicants and 88% of those who sat were admitted. Its report for 2026 is not out yet.
Curriculum
The six-year General Medicine curriculum in Brno
General Medicine is a six-year Master's programme taught in English that ends with the MUDr. title, the Czech equivalent of an MD. The first two years are mainly theoretical (Biology, Biophysics, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Anatomy with dissection, Histology, Physiology), followed by the preclinical and clinical disciplines, clinic internships in years 4 and 5, four blocks of summer practical training and pre-graduation placements in the final year. Students also learn Czech, with exams at the end of years 1 to 4, so that they can talk to patients on the wards; the state exams are in Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Public Health.
Before meeting patients, students train at SIMU, the Faculty's simulation centre. Clinical teaching takes place at University Hospital Brno, St. Anne's University Hospital Brno, the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute, the Centre for Cardiovascular and Transplant Surgery and other specialised facilities. The Faculty says its degrees are fully recognised in the EU, the USA and most other countries, and it is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
Location
Where is Masaryk University's Faculty of Medicine?
In Brno, the Czech Republic's second-largest city. The Faculty is on the University Campus Bohunice, which it shares with the CEITEC research centre and the SIMU simulation centre. Brno's airport has direct flights from Ryanair only; most students fly to Prague or Vienna and take a bus or train.
Rankings
Masaryk University ranking
Rankings measure Masaryk University as a whole, not its Faculty of Medicine. Times Higher Education's own page puts it in the 601–650 band of the World University Rankings 2027 and in the 401–500 band of the Medical and Health table (2026 edition). In QS's own data for the World University Rankings 2026 it is =430th; the university reports 454th in the 2027 edition, which IvyTest could not read on QS's site. Is it good for medicine? Those tables say little about one faculty: the pass mark, the clinical hospitals and the curriculum above are better guides.
